The first thing to do when you receive your system is to give the battery or batteries that you purchased with the charger a twelve-hour charge. The Q2CR5 charger recycles your batteries in either of two modes: a slow twelve hour charge or a fast charge which is approximately one hour. The charge mode switch is located at the back of the charger where the power lead enters the unit and is marked (**) for slow charge and (*) fast charge. Consider the twelve hour charge as a battery recondition mode and always recondition your batteries as soon as you purchase them.

Once you have reconditioned a battery you can switch over to fast charge for normal use and occasionally recondition (about once every two or three months) to get maximum capacity out of them. Please observe battery polarity and orient them as marked on the charger unit. Always charge up your batteries before putting them in your camera if they have not received a full charge within the past few days. If you are not sure when a battery last received a charge, it is always better to charge again.
